DESCRIPTION:Learn in a classroom environment with your peers\, virtually with a BEVA® instructor online. \nCourse Length:  2 days \nTarget Audience: General \nPeople with disabilities represent a significant and largely underutilized resource for businesses. Many disabled persons are underemployed or unemployed. As a result of advocates for diversity\, as well as a shrinking labor pool\, employers are taking a serious look at hiring and retaining people with disabilities. This two-day BEVA course will give supervisors\, managers\, and human resource consultants tools and tips for creating a diverse workplace. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nHow to prepare to welcome people with disabilities into your workplace\nHow to interact with people with disabilities\nIdentifying and overcoming barriers in the workplace\nUsing respectful\, appropriate\, acceptable language in any circumstance\nUnderstanding appropriate interaction during hiring and interviewing\nUnderstanding what job accommodation is and how it applies in your workplace\n\nWhat Topics are Covered? \n\nDefining terms\nMisconceptions and realities\nDissecting labels\nAccessibility\nThe cornerstones of diversity\nEncouraging diversity by hiring\nUsing the STOP technique\nCommunication essentials\nCommunication styles and critical conversations\nHow do we make it happen?\n\nSupplement Material \nA student manual is available for the learner to follow during the instructor’s presentation. \nBenefits to the participants \nThroughout the activities\, the participants will gain a better understanding of working with people with disabilities. \nCourse Evaluation \n A course evaluation will be completed by the learners once the course is finished. \nCertificate \nA BEVA® certificate of attendance will be provided once the participant completes the course. \nNote: The course outline may be subject to change. \n  \n
