DESCRIPTION:Learn in a classroom environment with your peers\, virtually\, with a BEVA® instructor online. \nCourse Length: 2 days \nTarget Audience: General \nLearning Objectives:\n\nEnable the participants to set realistic and achievable career goals.\nDirect participants in setting up action plans to achieve their career objectives.\nHave participants assess their careers to date by identifying their preferences\, skills\, aptitudes\, interests\, abilities and traits.\n\nCourse Content:\n\nSelf-assessment – fitting work skills to work preferences\nPatterns and trends in each participant’s education\, training and employment history\nAptitudes\, interests and preferences\nCurrent and ideal balance among work\, family\, social\, recreational and intellectual activities-quality of life\nAspects of their training and employment that are sources of satisfaction and\ndissatisfaction\nLimits on their career progress arising from lack of training\, skills and experience\nCharacteristics of their ideal jobs (Roles)\nReview of current availability and trends for jobs by occupational groups\nReview trends in availability of work through counselling\, placement and recruiting firms\nReview of institutions providing training\, their course offerings\, fees and entrance\nrequirements\nExamine the merits and limitations of full time\, part time and casual training\nExamine the process of registration for training\nMentoring – how one finds and develops a mentoring relationship\nDistinguish among and understand the interdependence of long and short term career goals; financial and income security goals; training and development goals; and quality of life\nPrepare an action plan consistent with one’s needs and constraints\nIdentify specific objectives and time frames; commit one’s self to implement the plan\nManage implementation of the plan\nReview and evaluate results\n\nSupplement Material \nA student manual is available for the learner to follow during the instructor’s presentation. \nBenefits to the participants \nThroughout the activities\, the learners will be able to examine their current situation and apply new practices to establish and set career goals. \nCourse Evaluation \n A course evaluation will be completed by the learners once the course is finished. \nCertificate \nA BEVA® certificate of attendance will be provided once the participant completes the course. \nNote: The course outline may be subject to change.
