SUMMARY:Emerging Skills for Leaders and Professionals with ADHD
DESCRIPTION:Learn in a classroom environment with your peers\, virtually\, with a BEVA® instructor online. \nCourse Length:  1 day \nTarget Audience: General \nLearn\, Think and Work Differently. \nDiversity and inclusion have become buzzwords across corporate and government workplaces\, encompassing more than race and ethnicity. People love to talk about the diversity of thought\, and the concept of neurodiversity is taking shape in many organizations. As learning and development (L&D) folks\, we’ve noticed that as organizations become more inclusive\, we must also adapt our approach to training. \nMaking an organization more inclusive for neurodiverse individuals requires an appreciation of each person within their work context and a focus on getting to know employees individually and leading people on a situational basis. In L&D\, we have always known the importance of these behaviours\, and we will come to appreciate neurodiversity as much as we enjoy employees’ diverse learning preferences. But we may miss it unless we truly understand what it means to lead while having ADHD or lead employees with ADHD. \nEmployers or colleagues often do not know someone is neurodiverse unless they tell them. Many large organizations work with agencies that help with recruiting\, onboarding\, and training — but what can we do if we don’t know about the neurodiverse employees in their professional development or in leadership roles? \nHow can we ensure that the learning and development programs are inclusive for employees with ADHD? Or how to be more inclusive of staff with ADHD? \nOur approach is using the AGES framework to make learning stick better: \nAttention—staying aroused and alert enough to focus. \nGeneration—creating connections and making associations with learned material. \nEmotion—optimizing learning with the appropriate level of positive emotion. \nSpacing—distributing knowledge over time. \nUse your Superpowers. \nProfessionals with ADHD have unique gifts or “superpowers.” Learning to lead or work with your superpowers can give you an edge over others in your work and guide you to greater satisfaction in your life. But you can only use them to your best advantage if you know what they are\, and if something comes easy to you\, you likely need to recognize them as a superpower. \nAt the end of this BEVA training\, participants will be able to discover strategies for: \n\nTaking care of attention\nExercising benevolent leadership\nThe whirlwinds of emotions\nCultivate resilience\nBecome better organized\nAnd much more!\n\nThis is a highly interactive and participative workshop. \nSupplement Material \nA participant’s guide will be provided. \nSession Evaluation \nThe learners will complete an evaluation once the course is finished. \nCertificate \nA BEVA® certificate of attendance will be provided once the participant completes the course. \nNote: The course outline may be subject to change. \n  \n
