Learning Objectives:
Gain skills in facilitating teams and work groups to achieve their objectives based on a foundation of basic facilitation skills including: understanding the role of the facilitator; questioning techniques; use of flip charts; sorting, organizing and summarizing and seeking consensus and closure.
Course Content:
o Refresher of basic facilitation skills
o Understanding team and group development
o Active listening and mirroring
o Giving feedback
o Dealing with conflict and interpersonal differences
o Defining the problem
o The problem solving process
o Win-win, win-lose, lose-lose
o Building an action plan
o Mini-lectures, reading, videos, problem-solving tools, conflict styles, or other self-evaluation instruments.
All participants will practice facilitating, recorded on video and immediate feedback will be provided.
This workshop incorporates problem solving; conflict resolution, consensus building and advanced facilitation practice depending on length of course and background of participants.

A student manual is available for the learner to follow during the instructor’s presentation.
Benefits to the participants
Throughout the activities, the learners will look at different elements to consider becoming a better facilitator.
